Working on a Grant (Silver Lining 7-5-2020)

papers

July 5, 2020

It’s on my personal list of least favorite tasks: accounting.  I would rather clean my house, do laundry, go grocery shopping—even clean the chicken coop.

But late last week, the state of Vermont announced a grant for those businesses affected by the pandemic.  Because EVERYTHING I do in international education requires mobility, my little one-person business has “been affected.”

Even though today has been a beautiful summer’s day, I am here in my office. I have just spent about four hours pulling together the required documentation. Tomorrow I must be ready to submit it right at 8 AM.  Hopefully, my business will qualify for a government grant.

That would truly be a “silver lining” at this point!

Silver Linings…

started as my personal response to 2020’s global pandemic of COVID-19.  When I published them locally,  I was surprised by how much people responded to them.

I hope they bring some positivity to you, too, during this unsettling time
