Summer Spanish Students

STEP

Fun in the Summer!

A Great Opportunity

Summer Schedule

Each week features one or two organized opportunities for the students to get together.  Events include welcome and farewell picnics, Six Flags, a day in Boston, bowling, and the drive-in movies. Host families are also welcome to join.

Here is the 2022 schedule!

Spanish Summer Details

A group of Spanish teens arrives the end of June each summer, staying for 3 1/2 weeks.

Host families provide housing, food and loving support. Students have health insurance and their own spending money.

Students come to learn about life in the USA. The program provides two outings for all the students, and several optional get-togethers as well. Host families are welcome to join the students on the trips to Boston and Six Flags, just paying their own entrance fees.  (The program rents a bus.)  Some families have even joined the students in New York City, where the Spanish kids have 2 1/2 days to enjoy the “Big Apple” before flying back home.)

It’s a GREAT opportunity to host for a short time, in a relaxed way!

At the Carwash (Silver Linings 6-6-2020)

We don’t get out much anymore.  That was so plainly evident today that it turned out to be both laughable—and my silver lining.  I sometimes feel quite badly for Spanish daughter number three.  This year has turned out to be very different than the...

The Brazilian Weatherman

He is outside in shorts and flip flops, his normal house attire. But he’s added on a scarf and a fleece jacket, even a hat, before he’s charged outside. “Look!” he cries triumphantly. “Look at this! It’s SNOWING!!” His enthusiasm is so complete and his joy so evident...
