Bonuses in a Strange Year (Silver Linings 6-29-2020)

goodbye isa

June 30, 2020

Early this morning, I drove to the airport with “Spanish daughter #3”.  She has been with our family since August of 2019.  What a strange academic year it has been for her!

Although we would have loved for her to have had a “normal” year, she recognized the “bonus” she enjoyed during her atypical exchange student experience.  Mostly, she appreciated the relationship she gained with her oldest host brother and his girlfriend.  They would not have been around very much, as they are both are in college.  But with the closure of his university this spring, and the online learning environment, they were all in a similar position.

The other experience she fully, completely and totally enjoyed?  Spending hours upon hours with the puppy.  She even held her during some of her zoom meetings for class (which made the teachers smile, too).

She left thankful for these silver linings!

Silver Linings…

started as my personal response to 2020’s global pandemic of COVID-19.  When I published them locally,  I was surprised by how much people responded to them.

I hope they bring some positivity to you, too, during this unsettling time
